For a whole-company AI awareness baseline, pick the shortest course your staff will actually finish, assign it on a platform you already run, and keep a completion roster. A staff baseline competes with real work. Under an hour gets done; a 30-hour MOOC does not, however good it is. Check the provider's own stated length, not marketing claims.

Assignable at scale
You need due dates, groups, and a completion roster from a platform you already run, or a SCORM package your LMS can ingest. Self-enrolment pages are fine for volunteers, not for 300 employees.

Written for work, not for engineers
Staff need to know what AI gets wrong, what data may go into which tool, and who stays responsible. Prompting tricks and model internals are optional extras.

Honest about evidence
No short course makes an organisation compliant with anything. What counts is the documented measure: who completed what, when, and what your own tool rules say. Treat any vendor promising compliance in a box with suspicion, including the house entry below.

A sub-60-minute staff program from the creators of Elements of AI, described by MinnaLearn as mapped to the EU AI Act, deployable in an organisation's own LMS via SCORM or xAPI, with a certificate on successful completion and 12 languages including English. Elements of AI (University of Helsinki and MinnaLearn)
The well-known free university course with over 2 million participants per the provider site, available in many languages. Excellent conceptual grounding, but the full Introduction to AI course is on the order of 30 hours, which makes it a poor mandatory assignment for every member of staff and a good optional depth course. Certificates are downloadable from the learner profile.
Best for: Optional depth for staff who want the science, not the all-staff deadline.
Where the legal duty actually sits
In the EU, Article 4 of the AI Act asks organisations to take measures supporting AI literacy appropriate to role and context. No certificate is required and no single course creates a presumption of compliance; the European Commission's own Q&A says so.
